In 2003, approaches were made to Healesville RSL by local Vietnam Veterans who were concerned for the future of the district's Vietnam Veterans Day Services.  They felt that a larger Service combining RSL Sub-branches and Vietnam Veterans of the broader upper Yarra Valley  would ensure a more appropriate, lasting remembrance.

Consequently the RSLs & Veterans came together and the result was our first Combined Vietnam Veterans Day Commemorative Service in 2005.  The combination has proved successful and has been growing each year (despite 2009's atrocious weather).

The Commemoration rotates between communities each year. This year is Lilydale's turn.
